February & March 2021
With ELC , P1 and P2 first to return. the school came back to life. And with the arrival of the P3-P6 classes in March, we're back to full capacity with both the children and the staff glad to back!

The pupils and staff at both Kirkhope and Yarrow Primary Schools were delighted to be asked to participate and contribute to this years Selkirk Living Nativity - The Movie!

Music with Mr Lowthian

Golden Eagle Project
Autumn Term 2018
Philip from the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project has been visiting the Kirkhope & Yarrow over 12 weeks and teaching us all about Golden Eagles. We have learned so much and have all really enjoyed this project. Thanks Philip!
Spittal Beach
June 2018
The beach trip was great fun! We played in the sea, went in the waterpark and enjoyed some ice-cream!
Walk up The Three Bretheren
June 2018
We walked all the way up the Three Brethren and then around the site of the Battle of Philiphaugh. We thoroughly deserved our icecream at the Waterwheel cafe before a quick look at the Salmon Viewing Centre.
Standard Bearer's Visit
June 2018
Royal Burgh Standard Bearer Peter Forrest and his Attendants came to visit along with Selkirk Silver Band. We sang Common Riding songs and the winners of the Art and Essay competitions were given medals. Afterwards there was a game of football at the sports field. What a great community event!
Hawick Trip
May 2018
We went to Wilton Park Museum in Hawick where we had fun dressing up as mini beasts, looking at fossils and afterwards we loved playing in the park.
Harestanes and Woodside Trip
May 2018
At Harestanes we went on a nature trail. We collected data on birdlife, bee life, mini beasts, animals, flowers and trees. We used the data to create graphs and charts. Afterwards we went to Woodside Garden Centre and bought plants for the school garden. It was great fun.
Viking Visitors
May 2018
We had a visit from Vikings at school, they even brought their tent with them! We dressed up in viking clothes, tasted viking food, made candles and necklaces and even got to try out their bows and arrows and swords! What an amazing day!
Climbing at EICA Ratho
May 2018
The P4/5/6 boys were very lucky to have a climbing lesson at the EICA in Ratho. They gained new skills, increased their confidence and had a really great time in the process!
Eco Crafts at the Discovery Den
May 2018
The P4-6 boys had a lovely morning at the Discovery Den making bee bombs and wildflower pots to sell at the Selkirk pop-up shop.
Netherurd Residential
May 2018
P4-6 from Kirkhope joined Yarrow on a fantastic residential trip to Netherurd. They did some amazing activities including zorbing, archery, zip wire, vertical playpen and a nature trail. They even toasted marshmallows around the campfire!
Commonwealth Passport Success
April 2018
Well done to these boys who achieved medals in the Commonwealth Passport programme!
Yarn Bombers
March 2018
The boys have become skilled knitters with help from the amazing Linda and Maggie! They have 'Yarn Bombed' the school gate for Easter. If you're passing, please stop to have a look. The display features pom pom chicks and a life size pom pom lamb. Well done boys!
Burns Afternoon with Yarrow Primary School

We had a great time celebrating Burns Day with our friends at Yarrow Primary School. There was singing, dancing, music, poetry and we mustn't forget the haggis, neeps and tatties!
Competition Winner - Well Done Alfie!

During our Christmas jumper day activities, Kirkhope school had 2 special surprise guests - John Lamont MP and Rachael Hamilton MSP! They came in to surprise their Christmas card competition winner, Alfie Gorrill and presented him with a Lego Technic set as a prize.
WELL DONE ALFIE!!!! Your card will be in 5000 households this year!
Intergenerational Project with Borders Youth Theatre
October 2017
The children brought stories from the past to life through the inter-generational project with Borders Youth Theatre and some of the older residents from the valleys. What a wonderful experience and some wonderful stories!
